whats_your_emergencyWHAT'S YOUR EMERGENCY?
Wednesdays and Thursdays at 23:00 from 2nd July continuing into next month

What’s Your Emergency? takes an intimate and  astoundingly candid look at the work of the emergency services and the chaotic and concerning situations they face in modern day Great Britain.

With 31 million emergency calls received in the UK in 2011, up 60% in recent decades, you can be sure that the emergency services have seen everything. Whether it’s a race against time as an expectant mother is about to give birth at home, a suicide attempt, a fatal stabbing or a seven-year-old shoplifter, you’ll learn there’s nothing that can shock the steadfast emergency crews as they face society at its most raw, vulnerable and challenging.

Over the course of two fascinating and thought-provoking series, you’ll see exactly what goes on behind the scenes, through the eyes of those at the forefront, and it’s far from a pretty sight. The Police, Ambulance and Fire Crews, as well as the call handlers, will reveal their challenges, their triumphs and their fears as they attend to the life or death circumstances of the citizens of Britain, while patients and their loved ones will reveal the often emotional or shocking stories behind the emergency calls. This is reality: up, close and personal.

BORDER SECURITY
Mondays and Tuesdays 11:00, 17:00 and 23:00 from 21st July continuing into next month.

Border Security has unprecedented access to all areas of Australia’s national security – airports, coastal waters and mailing centres – which makes for a fascinating series of fly-on-the wall footage capturing major drugs and weapon busts, as well as the bizarre objects that people attempt to smuggle into the country.

Series 5 opens as three Chinese passengers arrive in Sydney and claim they are part of a tour group and have only just met each other. Each of their passports recently were reported lost or stolen, so Immigration have decided to take a closer look. The female passenger tells Immigration she’s here on holidays and that she doesn’t know either of the other two men. But after repeated questioning, she reveals one of the men is in fact her husband. Meanwhile, the document examiner is inspecting the passports and they’re not quite right…

Later in the series, an Italian man who tells officers he works as a professional clown says he’s here for a holiday but is questioned further about his intentions, a Canadian traveller in Australia for a wedding has brought some boots with her which are eye catching for the wrong reasons, and a well-travelled Russian woman pleads ignorance to Australia’s strict quarantine laws when they discover an Italian sausage in her luggage.
