Between Christmas and New Year, CBS Reality contains back-to-back episodes of some of your favorites series. Here's what you can expect:
A chance encounter can be the start of a fairytale romance...but sometimes, it can lead to abuse, betrayal, jealousy and revenge…and ultimately cause a devoted wife to do the unthinkable. Wives With Knives Night on the 26th, profiles real stories about women who are pushed to the brink by a cheating spouse, an abusive significant other or a volatile relationship where enough is enough and their only response is an act of violence. The show features interviews with women who tell these stories from their perspective and give insight into the personal experiences and struggles that led to their actions. The interviews will be intertwined with dramatic recreations that recount the traumatic events of each woman’s story. Dr. Casey Jordan, a criminologist and attorney with more than 20 years of experience, will conduct the on-camera interviews and provide expert analysis on what drove these women to commit such drastic crimes of passion, rage and desperation.
Suspenseful, engrossing and dramatic, Murder Wall Night on the 27th turns viewers into detectives as they see clues to some of the most challenging homicides unfolding right before their eyes. Expect twists, turns, false leads, and truly inspired detective work, as we follow the extraordinary investigations taking shape, with each episode focusing on an individual case. From a guidance counsellor found murdered in a graveyard, to a model in a canal, each case required the dedication and dogged efforts of those who bring killers to justice.
A murder has been committed… But as the evidence piles up, so does the confusion. Cold Blood Night on the 28th returns you to the crime scene so you can examine all the clues for yourself. Can you piece together the facts and eventually crack the case? Combining the thrill of a mystery with the visceral experience of true crime drama, Cold Blood navigates the confounding twists and turns on the journey to solving a homicide, tracking the emergence of new evidence, new revelations, and new suspects… As competing theories come to light, Cold Blood explores how the crime could have occurred from each perspective. Experience real investigations as they unfold. Follow the forensics as it reveals the truth.
1 in 5 murders in the UK are committed by an ex-prisoner. Why did they kill and could they have been stopped? From violent offenders to cold-blooded killers, this chilling series reveals how these criminals, once released from prison, went on to kill innocent people - some in a matter of days. Donal MacIntyre’s Released to Kill Night on the 29th is a ten part series, presented by respected criminologist and investigative journalist Donal MacIntyre, that takes an in depth look into these criminals and their crimes. Each episode tells the story of one terrifying case as it unfolds, and we hear from both the victims’ and the murderers’ families, witnesses and experts. When examining each case, Donal and a panel of experts, including a forensic psychiatrist, a former prison officer and a retired probation officer, examine if there were any warning signs about the potential evil of this person, as they answer the ultimate question: could a life have been saved?
New Scotland Yard Files Night is on the 30th where current and former New Scotland Yard detectives open their files to tell the inside stories of how they caught some of the capital's most notorious killers by following the ABC of the detective world: accept nothing, believe nobody and challenge everything. Each episode of the series uses ITN Productions' extensive archive, evocative reconstructions and in-depth interviews to take viewers through the twists and turns of a murder investigation in extraordinary detail, to reveal how police finally identify and catch the killer. The series is presented by former New Scotland Yard detective Peter Bleksley, who brings unique insight into the workings of murder investigations, with contributions from the journalists who covered the stories as they unfolded, criminologists who analyse the methods and motives of the murderers and forensic specialists who provide vital evidence to ensure the guilty are convicted.
Offering the chance for viewers to take a deep dive into evidence-based profiling, leading forensic profiler and expert in serial killers, Bryanna Fox, will dissect the course of a serial killer’s descent while identifying the red flags along their trajectory - what were the signs of future concerns and when did these warning signs appear? The brand new CBS Reality original series, Descent of a Serial Killer Night on the 31st, will examine the killer’s path from childhood or early teens, when worrying traits first come to the fore, the gradual pushing of boundaries and the disintegration of personal morality, leading to the culmination in murder and multiple murders. Throughout the series Bryanna will be joined by a range of contributors, who will provide us with the factual details from their own first-hand accounts. Bryanna’s professional contributions will serve to unpick for the viewer how and why the descent happened. She will provide a deep understanding of both criminal and non-criminal behaviours, early displays of psychopathy and how this information correlates with data found in crime detection resources used by detectives today.
