Donal MacIntyre’s Released to Kill
1 in 5 murders in the UK are committed by an ex-prisoner. Why did they kill and could they have been stopped? From violent offenders to cold-blooded killers, this chilling series reveals how these criminals, once released from prison, went on to kill innocent people - some in a matter of days. “Donal MacIntyre’s Released to Kill” is a ten part series, presented by respected criminologist and investigative journalist Donal MacIntyre, that takes an in depth look into these criminals and their crimes.

Donal MacIntyre’s Murder Files
Each episode of “Donal MacIntyre’s Murder Files” includes an in-depth interview with the key detective who solved the case in question. Using dramatic reconstruction, archive footage and police tapes, MacIntyre takes the viewer through all the twists and turns, the setbacks and the dangers, to the turning point that led to the case being solved. The viewer will find out what it takes to solve a complex case while witnessing the profound emotional effect on those who work on them. Cases featured in the series include the murder of Stephen Lawrence with retired DCI Clive Driscoll explaining why he fought to reopen the investigation, and the case of the ‘Sat Nav Killer’, which led DCI Martin Brunning on a Europe-wide manhunt to find the perpetrator.

THE MURDER THAT CHANGED BRITAIN

On the 15th of July 1992, a young mother, Rachel Nickell, was murdered on Wimbledon Common as her two-year-old son looked on. Her death would lead to one of the most notorious miscarriages of justice in British criminal history.

Colin Stagg was wrongly accused and imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. For three decades, the man who has squarely shouldered the blame for this catastrophic failing was the country’s leading forensic psychologist, Professor Paul Britton. Britton, who has never spoken publicly on the matter, finally breaks his silence in a series of exclusive, no holds barred interviews. What emerges is a far more complex story than anyone could ever imagine.
