David Beckham - Into The Unknown DVD Release Date
By James W, Sunday 23rd November 2014

BBC Worldwide is to release the DVD of David Beckham Into the Unknown – the feature length documentary following the global superstar’s unforgettable adventure into the Amazon wilderness, which was originally broadcast on BBC One earlier this year. The DVD will be available from Monday 24 November and is also available to download to own.

Directed by world renowned director Anthony Mandler, this 90-minute film follows David and his friends Dave Gardner and Derek White as they venture on an epic journey of self –discovery deep into the remote Amazon Rainforest.

The DVD extras feature material that was not included in the original BBC Television broadcast. This includes the unseen footage of David meeting another remote tribe - the Waimiri-Atroari - who he is introduced to by anthropologist Porfirio, a man who has dedicated his life to trying to protect this indigenous group. Viewers will see the tribe hold a welcome ceremony and David enjoying a meal with them.

Additional extras are David’s video diary where he talks candidly about his disappointment in not appearing in the 2010 World Cup and other footage of David chatting about his wife Victoria, family, fashion, food and his footballing idols. Plus there’s a chance to see behind-the-scenes action as David shoots a commercial with fellow footballers Gareth Bale, Lucas Moura and Zinedine Zadane.

After 22 years of playing for the world’s greatest football teams, David Beckham has found his retirement from the game has meant that for the first time in his adult life he has the freedom to do whatever he wants, including going on an ambitious expedition like this. During the documentary David talks of how he is relishing the chance to spend a short time away from the spotlight and enjoy some anonymity, lead a more simple life and have a chance to reflect.

Beckham flies 5,000 miles from his home in London to South America, staying briefly in Rio de Janeiro and then on to Manaus in the heart of the rainforest. From there he and his friends travel by motorbike and boat, guided by locals as they visit the tiny community of Angelin, cross the river Negro to the banks of the Cuieras River and travel deeper into the rainforest to meet the remote Yanomami tribe.

David Beckham Into The Unknown on DVD is a fascinating travelogue that is part buddy journey, part adventure and gives a unique insight into the mind of one of world’s most celebrated sporting heroes.

Written in Blood: Interview with author Clare Mackintosh
Posted on Monday 15th October 2018

CBSR: Your first novel, I Let You Go, was a smash hit. How did its success change your life?

CM: I Let You Go came out in November 2014, but it wasn’t until spring 2015 that things really started to change. The paperback was selected for the Richard & Judy Book Club, and in practically every WHSmith in the country. It was an incredible platform for a debut, and meant that when my second novel - I See You - came out, I already had a loyal fan base. I’m very fortunate to be a full-time author, and it feels a world away from just a few years ago, when I was wearing a police uniform and struggling to juggle work with family life.

CBSR: How did it feel to see your first book on shop shelves?

CM: It...

CBSR: Did you learn any presenting skills whilst making Season 1 of Written in Blood that you made sure you implemented for Season 2?

ST: The one thing I took from watching Season 1 back was that I occasionally interrupted the other authors so I tried to knock that on the head as much as I could. Most of the show is a recorded conversation between me and the guest author and conversations tend to be fragmented and messy in a way th...
